When I became the Chief Executive of Alzheimer’s
Research UK, just over a decade ago, dementia
research was still lagging behind the research of
other diseases.
But today things are changing. And fast.
New treatments are coming. Novel research into
diagnosis could help us spot dementia earlier, and
more accurately, than ever before. And we’re discovering new ways to
protect our brains, so that some cases of dementia could be prevented
from even happening.
I hope you feel proud of that. Because your support makes all of this
possible. It helps our scientists make discoveries. And it’s helping more

dementia in later life.
