Queen. Lucy understood what it was for,
and felt very proud to have received it.
But then, in late 2023, Lucy had a fall that
left her with serious injuries. After a long stay
in hospital, she moved into palliative care.
And, heartbreakingly, she died on Boxing
Day of that year, with Harry by her side.
Since Lucy passed away, Harry has

on his crutches. People often stop him
to share their memories of Lucy – a
constant reminder of the kindness she showed to others. And this
affection is part of what inspires Harry to raise money, and awareness,
for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
In the last four years, Harry has raised over £20,000. An incredible
achievement, and one which saw him named ‘Fundraiser of the Year’ at
BBC Radio Derby’s ‘Make a Difference’ awards. “I’m just waiting for that
eureka moment when someone says we’ve cracked it,” Harry says. “Whether
that’ll be in my lifetime, I don’t know. But hopefully it will come soon.”
It’s this hope, and Harry’s deep love for Lucy, that led him to include a gift
in his Will to Alzheimer’s Research UK. With it, he will help us to fund the
discoveries of tomorrow – bringing us closer to the moment when a cure
for dementia can be found.
It is a wonderful gift, and a wonderful tribute to such a special woman.
One in three of Alzheimer’s Research UK’s
studies is funded by gifts in Wills. Every gift,
large or small, will bring us closer to new
dementia treatments – and a cure.
